  • Internal Investigations.  I’m writing a new online training program for a
national vendor on Internal Investigations. Its so important a HR person know
how to do a basic investigation. Not knowing the basics such as how to take
a good initial complaint or how to handle evidence, or how to question
witnesses can cause a relatively simple problem to evolve into a legal
nightmare for the employer. What you think of as an "inquiry" or a "we looked
into it" IS your investigation. If you’d like to know when the course will be
available, please send me an e-mail at teri@terimorning.com or use the
    Contact page.

  • Management Training.  I’m continuing to do a lot of one day management
training. I do 3.5 hours on Basic Compliance Training and then the other 3.5
hours on Basic Management Skills. Training your managers is the fastest,
easiest, simplest and most surprisingly affordable thing you can do to avoid
HR problems and have happier and more developed employees! Managers
need to know how to handle basic compliance situations such as what to do
with an FMLA request, or an ADA disclosure. Additionally they need to know
how to write good documentation, counsel an employee, how to daily use their
employee development tools, and just how to tell people things that are hard
    to say.

  • "Walk a Mile In My Shoes"  I’m also doing a new type of training. Its
called “Walk a Mile In My Shoes”. It's a day where different staff and
management change jobs for a couple hours and then meet up for a facilitated
discussion afterwards. I saw a commercial for a new TV reality show the other
day where the CEO will do the entry level jobs in their companies. Looks like
    a fun show.

When you're up to your ankles in alligators, it's hard to remember that
your goal was to drain the swamp.
